Flying with a laptop?
I dont have a ‘checkpoint friendly laptop bag’ what should I do? Put it in my checked luggage? What about the cables? Would all my stuff be taken out in the airport to be searched, if there were a crap-load of cables on the x-ray?
What about keyboard/mouse? In my checked baggage, between some clothes, to avoid breakage?
I was thinking of putting the cables and stuff in my checked baggage, and have a laptop sleeve as my carry-on.
I would suggest highly that you do not check your laptop – the baggage that is in stow gets tossed around and piled on top of each other and there is a good chance the laptop might get damaged during transit. I would do what you said put the cords, etc… in your checked baggage and use the laptop sleeve with your carry on for the laptop
Hope this helps!
Slow Pc Performance-Reasons Your Computer Runs Too Slow!
Getting a computer for the first time, you would probably be exhilarated at how incredibly fast it is, from the loading speed to the start-up speed. A few months later, it gets slower. You cannot even load up Internet Explorer without flinging the keyboard in rage. Why does the Performance of the Computer go down with time? Why does Windows take forever to start up after your computer is a few months old? Why do you get all sorts of errors after your have been using your computer for more than 6 months?
Overloaded – Too many programs loading during start up:
When a computer is overloaded with too many programs loading at start up, the Performance of the PC suffers noticeably. Stopping programs from loading into the memory is one of the most effective ways to tune up your PC.
Your computer is made up of many components. Three components that are directly related to the PC’s Performance are your computer memory, your hard drive, and your computer’s CPU. This does not just mean the programs you have open right now in front of you. It includes programs running that you do not even know are running. It is probably the most common problem people have. Every program whether it is legitimate or not, takes up valuable resources on the PC. Dealing with this issue can make big gains in performance.
Spyware/Adware/Highjack – Far too common a problem:
Unless you know how to avoid it and/or combat it, you probably have it on your computer. If you do know about it and scan for it, if you have not scanned in a while, you probably have something new on your PC. Just about every PC has something that fits this category running on the PC, eating up resources, or worse yet, spying on your activity, collecting all your data from your computer.
What is the purpose of Spyware? Why do they do it? There are gullible people out there who will read that pop-up message, maybe even buy something. The large majority of people will not. But with millions of PC’s out there, the odds are the scumbags that hired the scumbag script writers or programmers will make a few bucks. While Microsoft is making some progress in fixing the incredible number of security holes in their operating systems, every computer running one of the flavors of Windows, including the latest operating systems from Microsoft, will be affected by Spyware or Adware.
Virus:
Viruses are one of the several types of malicious software or malware. In common parlance, the term virus is often extended to refer to worms, Trojan horses and other sorts of malware; viruses in the narrow sense of the word are less common than they used to be, compared to other forms of malware. However, in a stricter sense, viruses, worms and Trojans are different from one another. They have different characteristics and behaviors.
Today, viruses are somewhat less common than network-borne worms, due to the popularity of the internet. Anti-virus software, originally designed to Protect Computers from viruses, has in turn expanded to cover worms and other threats such as Spyware, Trojan horses, identity theft and Adware.
Browser Hijacks:
Browser hijacks can fall into the same category as Spyware, Adware, Malware, and other Trojans but always directly affect the web browser of the computer that is hijacked. Many computer users do not realize when these programs have been secretly installed on their computer. They may also not realize their system or browsers settings have been changed.
Hardware Issues:
Not enough memory. You only have so much memory in your computer. When you use it all up, the computer starts to use hard drive space as virtual memory, at a fraction of the speed of actual memory. The good news is you can usually add more. Beyond that, other things determine the overall speed and Performance of the PC, such as the CPU, the bus speed, the hard drive’s access time, and much more.
Registry:
The registry is a large database of information such as how to run programs, their locations, and where to find them. Whenever you use your computer, the registry is involved. If you install or uninstall a program, your registry is modified accordingly. If a virus attacks your computer, files of it may be found on your registry. If you install Windows updates, it is also affected. It is easy to see how the registry can be very error-prone. Additionally, the registry can become cluttered with useless information, which may considerably slow down your computer.
In order to help you keep your PC far from the above issues, you will find on the Home page or under the Virus Checkpoint page of this website, software that is designed to solve all of these problems quickly and reliably. For more information please visit at http://www.electonicspoint.net.
