My lap top needs an aircard? do I buy one from best buy or verizon?
I have a laptop that is not WiFi ready I have Verizon internet at home for my desk top and recently hooked up a wireless router(from best buy) to it so that I can hook up internet to the laptop. Now I realize I need an air card. My question is I would like to know if I have to buy the air card from best buy or do I ask Verizon. How do I hook it up?
An air card will be useless unless you also have a mobile Internet connection from a cellular telephone network.
An air card is not a WiFi card. To connect to a WiFi network, you would use a WiFi card.
You can buy a PCMCIA WiFi card or a USB WiFi adapter from anyone. It does not have to be supplied by the same company that sold you the laptop.
You can also buy an air card from anyone, but many people choose to buy them from the same company that they pay for their cellular telephone and mobile Internet plan for convenience and technical support reasons. I don’t think that you actually want an air card though; I think that you were actually thinking of WiFi when you said “air card”.
