What type of hard drive should I get for my Sony Vaio VGN-FS550 laptop?

My laptop’s HDD has been failing, and im going to replace it..I going to buy a new one. The Original hard drive was an ‘ULTRA ATA’ drive…do I have to buy and ultra ATA drive? Will an SATA, PATA, or EIDE drive work instead?..they are less expensive..

Your stuck with an Ultra ATA drive… sorry. That’s the way it is with notebooks.

You do have the option of buying a much larger drive though…
And you should contact Sony Support – they may replace the drive for free.
