Thermal grease and plugging cpu into motherboard?
I was mounting the heatsink on my cpu after applying the thermal grease… everything looked fine and the power cord for the fan looked like it would reach ok, but when I got it in, the cord wasn’t long enough(by like half a cm) so I had to take the heatsink off… I made it so the wires will reach now but was wondering if the thermal grease has do be reapplied. If so, will ispoprpyl alcohol do the trick to clean it?
You only need the thinnest layer of thermal grease – just enough to get 100% contact between the CPU and the HS. It’s a good idea to monitor the temps after you assemble it. You can use Speedfan, if the MB doesn’t include a utility.
