My computer is not working since i changed the ram in it?
i took out the ram and put it back in and now it starts up with the screen full of blocks. i put the ram in different slots 1 at a time and both at one time. the sticks worked fine until i took them out to look at them since i was curious. i dont know if the slots went out i am certain i have them in all the way the motherboard is a pc133 gfxcel please help me
If both ram sticks worked fine until you took them out to look at them and now they dont work when you put them back in the same banks, then either the ram isnt seated in properly – take them out and put them back in again (check to make sure they are aligned properly – i have worked on a helpdesk and seen ram stick inserted the wrong way round before!) or take out both ram stick and carefully inspect them – they make have sustained damage when inserting – look at the gold teeth at the bottom of the chips – none of the gold should be scraped or cracked. Or they may have sustained electrical damage (static shock/electricity – you were wearing an earthed anti-static wrist strap when handling the memory werent you???!! – you should always earth yourself and wear an anti-static wrist strap when handling any internal pc component – most especially for the ram sticks!!
