Laptop Power Problem?
Hey, I’ve got a Toshiba Satellite P35-S609, and the power supply isn’t working right. I got a replacement cord on ebay, but the computer won’t run on the a/c power cord alone. If I have the battery plugged in it turns on but it won’t switch to a/c power, it just runs on battery for a while until it goes out… but the battery life isn’t very good and it doesn’t charge the battery. It has on occasion charged the battery, so I know the battery isn’t completely dead, but shouldn’t the computer be able to run through just the cord itself? Could the power source in the computer be busted? The light turns on that shows the computer is connected to a power source, but it’s just not powering the computer.

If you want to test the Toshiba SADP-65KB AC Adapter, you can follow the instructions below.
Obtain a tester from an electronic supply store. Carefully remove all the cables from all components it is attached to. Unscrew it from the computer case. Care must be taken not to damage any cables or the component they are attached to. Plug in the tester to the cords of the Toshiba SADP-65KB AC Adapter as per the instructions supplied for the tester. Testers vary to some degree. Connect the electrical cord to the laptop ac adapter and be sure the power is on.
You may need to flip the switch in back of the unit if it has one. This should tell you if it is good or bad. If the supply is bad replace it. DO NOT take it apart.
