Windows Virtual Server Images
Virtual PC Question ?

OK, so i created 3 VPC 2007 images: 2 windows server 2003 Ent edt and 1 windows XP on my work laptop and joined the three images to my work domain.
Everything is working well when my laptop is connected to the network.
my question is:
Is there a way to make the 3 images see each other and able to share folders and so… when my laptop is not connected???
I know it’s a stupid question but please if there is a way it will save lots of effort.
Thx
what is av cabble??

you should have virtual adapters on your network for each VM that should see each other and share fine, unless you have the laptop as your router. If each VM has an IP address on the same subnet, and each machine is in the same domain, all should be good.

Virtualization For Everyone

One of the hottest technological trends today is virtualization, as it has always been associated with optimizing resources & consolidation.

But what is virtualization? It is the abstraction of physical resources by software, which hides the physical infrastructure of the computational resources to be submitted to one or more applications or operating systems in order to share them.

What virtualization is used for, below is the main trends presently Virtualization is used to meet.

Server Consolidation: has been one of the top reasons behind the start of Virtualization. As the number of services the IT department has to offer today has dramatically increased, the size of the datacenter using traditional servers will require a huge space Virtualization can shrink the number of servers & the space required for the datacenter saving the cost of space & server maintenance.

Business Continuity: IT services are getting to be a vital need to most companies. Imagine a bank being down for a day, that can mean a loss of billion of dollars. As Virtualization has allowed for a high availability options like Live Migration, SnapShots, Image backup, High Availability, & fault tolerance which never been possible in physical setup. All the previous features have allowed a virtual environment to offer a level of Business Continuity that was never possible to achieve with a physical environment.

Testing and development: Virtualization has eliminated the need for extra hardware to build a testing & development applications. You can create many virtual machines on the fly for your test & development using your unused resources without having to adopt new hardware.

Application Compatibility: Virtualization is famous for allowing you to support legacy operating systems, which is no longer supported bare-metal on your hardware. Imagine being a company, which have a 30 application servers that only support Windows NT. Imagine the price you have to pay for maintaining these 30 old servers per year due to the fact Windows NT is not support to be installed bare-metal on new hardware. How much saving can this company achieves, by replacing the 30 servers by two new servers with virtualization software & still run all the 30 applications inside virtual machines. They will save huge money by illuminating the maintenance on old servers, space required, power required to power on the 30 machines, & will obtain higher availability with the newer hardware.

Now within these trends, there are different solutions available on the market and of course VMware is currently the leading one, with Microsoft & Citrix catching up.

At the end, its worth mentioning with the current economic situation cutting cost has been one of the major factors after the wide spread of virtualization.
